The word *percentage* comes from the Latin *per cent* and means *out of a hundred*.

To change a percentage number to a decimal number, divide the percentage number by 100.

To change a decimal number into a percentage, multiply by 100.

Change this percentage to a decimal number: 46.5%

Divide 46.5 by 100 = 0.465.

Answer: 0.465

Change 0.02 to a percentage.

Multiply 0.02 by 100 = 2.

Answer: 2%
